[SPOILER]
- Choose Noob mode. : )
- Do more mining in Dukang.
Among the production mini-games, mining has the best rewards if you can achieve 20+ combo and get at least one the "old wooden chest" almost every time (the first treasure chest will appear after your mining is over 30, and continously hit 20+ times without mistakes). There are some very handy weapons that can be found in the chests. Although you need some luck, but as you can keep doing S/L, it's not a problem.
--Sky Breaker, one of the best broadsword, 70 attack, poison effect
--Great Void, sword, 75 attact, 25 counter attack rate (don't equip it when you are fighting Yaksha)
--Seven String Qin, the best Qin, 125 attack
--Five Color Armor +250 defense, +10 critical
--Black Heaven Armor +280 defense, +10 counter attack rate.
--Cheater's dice, prevent enemies' counter attack
Those weapons could greatly help you get through the early battles.
One of the combination would be equip Great Void + Five Color Armor + cheater's dice, alternatively use Xiaoyao Sword and Xiaoyao Fist in your early battles. Take advantage of the buff (Moonlight Thrust, 10~15% health regenerate every turn, last for 3 turns) (Rising Punch, accumulates combo rate up to 40%), you can make more damage and have better chance to survive.
At the same time, you can dig out lots of ores. If you sell most of them in Dukang, you could be incredibly rich. Then, you really don't have to do hunting and fishing in Dukang, The tiger "unmentionable" and bear paw that are needed in two quests can be bought from the hunter. The 5 carps quest only give you 2000 qian, even not half the reward from a single mining mini-game. - Ignore those events and quests that only have poor rewards.
Although I know everyone who play the game all want to be a TRUE Xia that helps everyone and finish every quest from every NPC. However, the game has time constraint. You cannot handle too much things at the same time especially when you are not familiar with the game. - Don't ever train your martial arts (finger/fist/sword/broadsword/staff) at the begining of the game.
The exp you can get is related to your comprehension and martial knowledge. At the very begining, before Hangzhou, your martial knowledge and comprehension are relatively low. So if you train the martial arts, the rewarded exp is too poor to have any help in your battle.
However, internal arts are totally different. If you want to have higher health, energy, attack and defense, you need more turns to be spend on internel power. As we know that the H,E,A, and D are increased after you spend one turn on an internal art, which is not related to the internal exp you get. However, the maximum exp for an internal art to be level 10 is fixed.
A good strategy is to spend most of your time on internal art trainings at the begining of the game. In that case, you can have more trainings on internal power thanks to the low exp. If you have around 3000, or even more health when you are in Luoyang, it would be a good sign that you are on the right track.
You still need to spend time on martial arts though, but do it as late as possible to get the most exp. - if you have enough money, buy all the wines and teas!
Drinking wine and tea could increase your health and energy, and also your drinking/tea skill at the same time. Even though they are expensive, if you have done enough mining, it's really not a problem.
There are two events requires drinking and tea ceremony skills.
The end of April in the second year, there is a system event that WuXia Zi ask you to visit Wangyou Valley. There is a battle vs. the God of wine. If you win the battle, and your drinking skill is over 45 or 50, then he will share some wine with you. Just keep drinking with him, +200 health, +400 energy. And at last, he will give you a bottle of very special kind of wine, which could +60 attack and 60 defence, but -30 comprehension (actually, -30 comprehension is very helpful if you want to have more turns to train a certain internal art.) And you can always get those comprehension back by cooking, reading books, and all kinds of events.
The second event could be triggered before you go to Hangzhou with the Scholar and the Painter, early Nov. of the second year. if your tea ceremony is over 50 as well as your internal skill, Wuxia Zi will teach you a hidden weapon technique and give you a hidden weapon if you stroll to Xiaoyao Valley (need some S/L). The hidden weapon, Sweet Dew Vase can regenerate 10~15% of your health in each turn, and also increase your critical attack rate by 10%. The hidden weapon technique is also very handy that it has a very wide range of attack (3 hex distance). The first skill can increase combo rate (like rasing punch). The second skill can disable your enemy's internal buff and also has another debuff to stop your enemy from moving in next turn. It's very handy for most of the early battles as most of your enemies have very limited range of attack (e.g. the Glutton, Gu Yuexuan, Fu Jianhan, the Berserker) - Keep a copy of the saved data at the end of your journey in Dukang.
So next time, if you want play another routine and would like to use the same character with same talent, just load the saved data, which could save you lots of time and S/L.
